Buckle up! We've got big news!

Hi, Mimi’s Fans

It's me, Store Founder Kelly Moreland, writing to share some exciting news with you. Please join me in congratulating the new, proud owners of Mimi's Attic ...

Ian Rydgren and Amanda Oczkowski!

About Ian

After five years as a team member, Ian has contributed greatly to the store you know and love today. It’s hard to believe he started his journey with the company in 2015 as a part-time Mimi Mover! Not long after he started working for Mimi’s, Ian's intelligence, speed and aptitude for taking on a wide variety of tasks became apparent. On a very busy Saturday, we asked him to hop on the register to help out and, before long, he was an integral part of the Mimi's team. After learning all the roles at Mimi's including Buyer and Assistant Manager, Ian became the Store Manager in February 2019. As the Store Manager, Ian was faced with the challenges of COVID-19 and responded swiftly and adeptly. He and his talented team spearheaded and implemented our very successful online sales platform as well as new intake processes and health and safety procedures. Together, Ian and the Mimi's team have demonstrated Mimi's capacity to pivot, be resilient and keep thriving.

About Amanda

Amanda first came to Ithaca in 2010 for graduate study in Mechanical Engineering and soon fell in love with Ithaca and the region. She set down roots with partner Ian, who first introduced her to the Mimi's Attic family, and they have since furnished most of their home together with fabulous finds from the store. Amanda has a passion for building relationships with others and is excited to become a formal part of the leadership of a store so uniquely tied to the community that supports it. She particularly loves that every item that comes through Mimi's has a story and a personal connection to the local community. When not at the store, Amanda can be found at Cornell University, where she works part-time in the office of Diversity Programs in Engineering.

Will Mimi’s Attic be moving?

Yes, sometime in 2021 Mimi’s Attic will relocate to a new home. Stay tuned for details!

What will happen to my Store Credit under the new ownership?

Your Store Credit account remains the same! Though we have changed ownership, and will eventually move to a new location, your Store Credit will be honored under the new ownership and function the same way it always has.

What will happen to the items I have on consignment?

There is nothing you need to do. All consignment contracts will be honored by the new ownership.

Parting Thoughts

For those of you who may not know the story, I opened Mimi’s Attic in 2010 in response to a sudden 7,000 square foot vacancy right next door to my store Mama Goose. I named the new “sister store” after my grandmother and used her photos to help tell our story. The vision and creation of Mimi’s was very much a collaborative effort with the staff, and it has continued that way today. I am so excited to see what the Mimi's team will do in the coming year as they continue to serve you with commitment, pride, and creativity.

Ian, Amanda and I are truly grateful for your patronage and loyalty. As I always say, Mimi’s would not be what it is today if it were not for you, our loyal “traders” and shoppers. My favorite thing about Mimi’s is that it brings together people who love sustainability and beautiful things. It’s also just a really awesome place to roam the aisles and find inspiration.

Warmly,

Kelly Moreland
