“How is a raven like a writing desk?” A riddle that was created to have no answer. Mimi’s makes it easy by posing questions you CAN answer. Questions like: “Where in my home can I put this unique low back writing chair?” OR “What can I stash in that cute little drawer?” Let us know what you come up with!

Marion used cut glass liqueur glasses, sundae cups, and trinket dishes to create a lovely pastry vignette at a recent baby shower she hosted.  A pastel duvet cover and lace valances, also purchased at Mimi’s, were used as accents for this special display.  Marion said, “So happy to have found all of those treasures at Mimi’s! It really ‘made’ the display sparkle!”  Thanks, Marion!

Week of January 29th 2012

What do you get when you combine Time and Travel? In this case not time travel, because that is what happens when one combines plutonium and 1.21 gigawatts. Our latest project comes from one of our own, Christine Uliassi, the Assistant Manager here at Mimi’s. She has a tiny apartment so she is always on the lookout for small and functional pieces that are big on charm. This telephone chair/bench was the perfect project.

She upholstered the cushion using a Crate and Barrel tea towel that she had in her kitchen drawer! She then decorated the piece with a candle and a bowl that she just brought back from her recent trip to Istanbul. It all goes well with the bright green and yellow tile-like pattern on the cushion. Perfect! We have pieces that just need a little upholstery work or a paint job to be absolutely amazing! Stop by and find your own “before”. The lack of warm sunny weather can be a bummer. Chase away winter blahs with fresh flowers in an affordable vase from Mimi’s. Carnations are the birth flower of January and are coincidentally super inexpensive as well! Pairing the two will surely brighten up dismal the winter days. Cheer yourself up or commit a random act of flowers for someone who needs them.
