Before & After

Our talented customer, Marion (AKA”up-cycler” and baker), just emailed us this colorful photo. She purchased a gold candelabra from Mimi’s a few weeks ago, and painted it white. Now it holds her delicious creations! She also thought it would be pretty with mini ramekins filled with sweets like mints and nuts, or savories like olives and pappadews…or even as a jewelry display using the same ramekins….OR…as a candelabra! Thanks for your innovative ideas, Marion!

To all our creative customers: Come treasure hunting soon and email us pictures of your Mimi’s transformations!

Nowadays when a person uses the term “swag” they are referring to confidence, style, and presence. This week’s pick is a vintage cut glass plug in light. Or a what is commonly called a “swag light”. We’d like to think that the addition of this light to a room would be anything but common, but rather the definition of today’s terminology of the word. So take it home, plug it in, and turn on the Swag.

Before and After

Before

This installment of Before and After features a flat file that came to us a little on the beat-up side and after leaving with Mimi’s customer, Ian Connerty, became transformed in an object of function and beauty.

The flat file make-over:
-Ian removed the warped crossbars, top panel, rear panel and the drawer bottoms (most   of which were warped and were no longer properly fitted).
- replaced a warped crossbar with a new one made from a hardwood ( cherry).
- replaced the top and rear panels with imported birch plywood.
- replaced the drawer bottoms with imported birch plywood, and reinforced them with new hardware to ensure they do no sag.
- Built a new bottom carriage that the flat files can be placed on and locked in. This creates a 40′ high work table. The carriage has industrial wheels that can be locked with a foot lever, to lock the unit in place.

Voila!

Oh, the Possibilities…

Planning your next party?  Check out Mimi’s for all your entertaining needs!  We have a plethora of unique and affordable glassware for all occasions.  Marion of Sincredible Pastries came upon a scene like this in the store and imagined the possibilities…

Marion used cut glass liqueur glasses, sundae cups, and trinket dishes to create a lovely pastry vignette at a recent baby shower she hosted.  A pastel duvet cover and lace valances, also purchased at Mimi’s, were used as accents for this special display.  Marion said, “So happy to have found all of those treasures at Mimi’s! It really ‘made’ the display sparkle!”  Thanks, Marion!

Have you been inspired by things purchased at our store?  Send us pictures!  We’d love to see the possibilities.
