With the end of the academic year on the horizon, we know that many of you need to clear out your dwelling and make some money in the process. We can help!
Mimi’s Attic is an independently-owned consignment store in Ithaca’s West End and our goal is to make selling your furniture, housewares and home decor, simple, straightforward and convenient.
We know there are a lot of transitions happening in Ithaca this time of year, so we are offering a special FLAT RATE pick-up fee of $25 to residents in the Cornell and Ithaca College areas. Our usual pick-up fees begin at $50, so this is a great offer!
Any pick-up scheduled in the Cornell or IC area (you don’t have to be a student!) between April 15 and May 29 will cost you just $25.*
* Some exclusions may apply.
To get the process started- please email us photos of the furniture you want to sell to this email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. If we think we have a market for your items, we’ll let you know and call to schedule a Saturday pick-up. On the day of pick-up, we will bring you a “consignment agreement” to sign and you will pay the $25 pick-up fee. When our delivery guys bring your items back to the store – our buyers will check them out and decide on a sticker price, and we’ll call to let you know the price. When your item sells – you will receive 50% of the selling price in cash or 60% in store credit. Even if you’re gone for the summer- we can mail you a check!
Wondering what to sell? At Mimi’s Attic we don’t just take antiques or collectibles- we love your apartment furnishings too! Consider selling your bookshelves, cubbies, dressers, sets of dining chairs, kitchen islands, bedside tables, wooden desks, wood-framed futons. We love vintage items as well as contemporary brands such as Pottery Barn, West Elm, Ikea and Target. Anything that would sell for more than $15 is worth considering.
This $25 pick-up special is for a designated pick-up radius in the IC and Cornell areas and is first-come, first-served. Call today to find out if your address qualifies and plan to take advantage of this sweet deal and be part of Ithaca’s re-use economy!
Check out the “How it works” page for more details on selling to Mimi’s Attic. If consigned items do not sell in 60 days, owner must pick up or they will become property of Mimi’s Attic.
Earth Day is a big deal around here. On April 22nd everything in the store will be 10% off and we will be giving away free seed packets with every purchase. We will also be hosting two events in the afternoon: a “Succulent Admiration Society” event AND a Master Composter demo. Read on for details about both these special happenings and CLICK HERE to join our Facebook event!
Whether you think succulents are cute, want to know more about them, or just want to get your hands dirty potting your own, this is the event for you! Anyone is welcome, from the curious to the connoisseur!
Jane from Plenty of Posies, local succulent provider and flower farmer, will teach you about different kinds of succulents and how to care for them.
The event is free, but for $10, you can receive a plant and planter of your choosing along with dirt to transfer into the new vessel. Sign up to pot your plant ahead of time in the store or by giving us a call! Children welcome with adult supervision.
BONUS: Have you signed up for the Plenty of Posies fresh flower CSA Bouquet Club? They deliver sustainably-grown bouquets to Mimi’s Attic for 15 weeks from June to September for just $175. Sign up at the store or check out their Facebook page for more details.
From Noon to 2pm attend our Master Composter event!
Ever wondered how to start composting at home? A member of the Master Composters will be here with a Can-O-Worm compost bin and answers to all your burning questions on household waste management. Master Composters are a group of volunteers trained to educate the public about, and instill enthusiasm for, composting.

We know spring is a time that makes many of us want to shake things up a bit (literally, we mean it – time to shake those rugs!). As you get cleaning and shifting things around, you may come across furniture, housewares or home decor that no longer meet your needs. This is where we come in! Please feel free to walk in with your items 7 days/week, or contact us with any questions. Read more HERE on our “How it Works” page.
In the meantime, if you don’t do any spring cleaning at all and simply choose to take a stroll in the sunshine, consider strolling on in to browse or shop … there’s always something “new” at Mimi’s!
Gallery night was a great success here at Mimi’s! Our four staff artists brought their best work to showcase and each collection had a distinct style. There was so much to look at! Thank you to Wide Awake Bakery and Good Life Farm- the bread and cider were the perfect addition to our evening. Thanks to everyone who came out on Friday night, we hope to do it again next year!
Come and see a whole other side of the Mimi’s Attic and Mama Goose crew!
We will be open until 8pm Friday, March 3rd to join in the city-wide Gallery Night festivities. Our event is extra special because we will be showing art from four of our talented staff members.
Plus, two of our favorite local vendors, Good Life Farm and Wide Awake Bakery will be joining us! Both vendors will have free samples as well as (non-alcoholic and hard) cider and bread to purchase! The party will be going on from 5-8pm.
Have you ever wondered what these purple books are all about? Here at Mimi’s we sell “The Guide to Being Local” because we think it’s a GREAT resource!
The first half of the book is full of coupons for places that Ithacans love – like Greenstar, Rasa Spa, Ithaca Bakery, and of course Mimi’s Attic. The second half is full of photos and stories about our unique local businesses. The book is perfect for the Ithaca native who does their shopping here anyway, or for newcomers just starting to explore our wonderful town.
All the businesses featured in the book are local and independently owned- meaning that you are supporting people you know, and keeping money in our community. The guide offers coupons to help you save thousands of dollars – and for only $15 this book pays for itself! Keep it somewhere handy so that you can grab a coupon every time you head out to shop. If you buy your copy at Mimi’s, you can use the $5 coupon in your next transaction!
The guide is produced by Local First Ithaca. Check out the website to learn more about their efforts to create a successful local economy.
