What do you get when you combine Time and Travel? In this case not time travel, because that is what happens when one combines plutonium and 1.21 gigawatts. This rare Gruen World Clock keeps time all over the world. The clock features a little red airplane as the second hand. To see a close up of the clock’s face, visit us on facebook.

Before & After

Our latest project comes from one of our own, Christine Uliassi, the Assistant Manager here at Mimi’s. She has a tiny apartment so she is always on the lookout for small and functional pieces that are big on charm. This telephone chair/bench was the perfect project.

She upholstered the cushion using a Crate and Barrel tea towel that she had in her kitchen drawer! She then decorated the piece with a candle and a bowl that she just brought back from her recent trip to Istanbul. It all goes well with the bright green and yellow tile-like pattern on the cushion. Perfect! We have pieces that just need a little upholstery work or a paint job to be absolutely amazing! Stop by and find your own “before”. Email us the before and after pictures for 5 dollars store credit.

Oh the Possibilities…..

We love imagining all the different ways to use the antique finds our customers bring in. When this beautiful antique metal light fixture was brought in this morning, the Mimi’s girls and customers stopped to have a chat about its decorative potential. Some of our thoughts….

1) a beautiful centerpiece with candles

2) a wall mounted jewelry display (with some hooks added)

3) or…make it a functioning fixture again!

Oh, the possibilities….

This Just In

We are thrilled that this amazing Wolf dress form just arrived! It is in wonderful condition and complete with metal rolling stand, skirt cage, and pedal foot. Cream floral fabric covers the bodice. Even if you don’t sew, it makes a lovely room decor piece or accessory display. If you love all things vintage and industrial, this would be perfect in your space.

The lack of warm sunny weather can be a bummer. Chase away winter blahs with fresh flowers in an affordable vase from Mimi’s. Carnations are the birth flower of January and are coincidentally super inexpensive as well! Pairing the two will surely brighten up dismal the winter days. Cheer yourself up or commit a random act of flowers for someone who needs them.

“Its so fine and yet so terrible to stand in front of a blank canvas”- Paul Cezanne

Taking on a project can feel exciting and dreadful at the same time.  If you have the know-how and access to the right tools, (or a friend who possesses both) then you could be well on your way to achieving your goal. Let Mimi’s provide you with your blank canvases. Oh the possibilities…

Is your kitchen missing something? Could it be the hutch of your dreams? (Cue wavy dream sequence)

This maple hutch has plenty of storage,  generous work space, and a smart little chute for your produce or kitchen compost. The dimpled glass panes and classic cup-style drawer pulls add to its already charming appearance. Don’t wake up yet, this is the best part, it even has two cutting boards stashed in the bottom cupboard. Now snap out of it and get down to Mimi’s where we’ve been making your dreams come true since 2010.

Oh the Possibilities…..

Being hole-up inside is a perfect time to get crafty. Today a customer’s inquiry inspired us. This old wooden birdcage could house candles (Mimi’s suggests battery operated) and various items to create a pretty table accent.  Or wiring it with a low wattage bulb and hanging it in a corner would make for an interesting conversation piece. Free your mind and let invention take flight! Oh the possibilities….

Oh the Possibilities….

Ya’ll know the drill for the New Year. “Out with the old and in with the new.” Mimi’s has a variety of new, like-new and always new to You items. Spotlight on organization. Give loose mail a home in a rustic wood file box. Wrangle umbrellas in an old barrel. Keep unruly tonics and tinctures in line on your bathroom counter with an old soda bottle crate. Tuck away quilts or shoes in a roomy trunk. How will Mimi’s inspire you? Oh the possibilities…..
